• Over at Chiefio, E. M. Smith writes about grains, and why food will stay plentiful.  Except that you should probably stay clear of quinoa, because, well, Quinn's First Law.
• Speaking which, Thomas Sowell has several examples of QFL in a short article about Liberalism Versus Blacks.
• Over at Shall Not Be Infringed (which I still think of as "Snowflakes in Hell"), Bitter addresses the Real Problems of School Security.  TL;DR - it's not guns, it's that administrators and teachers just aren't serious about the safety of the children left in their care.
• You know it, I know it, but for some people, it may still come as a surprise to learn that the social security system is already broke.  So sayeth Tyler Durden.  You may disagree with him, but only after you defeat him in a vicious underground novelist fighting arena.
• At the WSJ, Roger Kimball relates several stories of post-Sandy bureaucratic woes, including having to bring his house up to code before the house could be repaired.  Apparently pointing out that "Brazil" was not intended as a FEMA training film does not help matters, no matter how loudly and slowly you explain it.
• It's just a shame that Mr. Kimball doesn't know the Right People.  When you do, as Radley Balko explains, you can get away with felonies committed on national TV.  When you don't, you can just shut up, peon.
